The prevalence of neurodivergent students in higher education continues to rise as more and more students seek out diagnoses. Meanwhile, many other students who may need accommodations go undiagnosed. The good news is that there are some simple adjustments you can make in your courses that support students who are neurodivergent (regardless of whether they have an official diagnosis). Many of these strategies will benefit your non-neurodivergent students as well. This session will (1) discuss the terminology used when talking about neurodivergence, (2) explain which conditions and diagnoses are typically included under the neurodivergent umbrella, (3) examine the strengths of neurodivergent students, and (4) share tips, tricks, and strategies you can use to support your neurodivergent (and non-neurodivergent) students.
