Dr. Jill Abney is the associate director of the Center for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching where she directs CELT’s Teaching Innovation Institute and supports faculty instructional initiatives around generative AI in teaching and learning. Her pedagogical research interests include fostering disciplinary- and humanities-informed approaches to generative AI, best practices for Holocaust Education, and trauma-informed pedagogies for hard histories. She teaches courses for UK’s Lewis Honors College, Graduate School, and department of history. As a historian she has a background of research in class, gender, rhetoric, and power. Prior to arriving at UK she held positions as an assistant teaching professor of history at the University of Southern Mississippi and a secondary social studies teacher in Madison County, Kentucky.
