Dr. Shannon Phelps
Faculty/Instructional Consultant
Dr. Shannon Phelps is a faculty/instructional consultant at CELT. She brings more than 20 years of experience across higher education, K-12 teaching, and community-based health education to her work supporting teaching and learning at the University of Kentucky. Her work and interest focus on pedagogical wellness, trauma-informed pedagogy, student engagement, and evidence-based course design and teaching practices.
Prior to joining CELT, Shannon served primarily as faculty at Berea College, teaching undergraduate health education and promotion, human sexuality, and wellness courses, advising and mentoring students, and providing supervisor through the College’s labor program. In her role as teaching and learning faculty associate at Berea, she supported initiatives for early-career faculty development, mid-semester feedback, and teaching innovation.
Shannon is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) and has background, teaching experience, and certifications in yoga, mindfulness, and trauma-informed instruction.
