Two years ago, a pair of CHS professors — Janine Bartley, PhD, CCC-SLP; and Leslie Woltenberg, PhD, MSEd — collaborated with the Center for Enhancement of Learning and Teaching (CELT)  to present the College’s first Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Faculty Learning Community group.

Now, they are confident the third time is the charm, as seven faculty from the College of Health Sciences, are preparing for the first CHS SoTL FLC group 3.0.

“Through our partnership with CELT and with the support of the CHS Office of Research and Scholarship, the SoTL FLC provides a space and connection for faculty to grow as scholars,” Woltenberg said. “This third cohort continues that tradition — bringing thoughtful questions, a spirit of collaboration and a real dedication to enhancing student learning experiences.”

The SoTL FLC began in Fall 2022 and now represents 27 CHS faculty across eight academic programs. It is designed to provide a framework and community for faculty to engage and grow in the scholarship of teaching and learning. This opportunity includes a common reading experience and SoTL-focused workshops followed by structured support for participants’ development, implementation, analysis, and dissemination of SoTL projects.

“I’m excited to see how their SoTL projects will strengthen teaching and learning across our college and beyond,” Woltenberg said.
