UK ADVANCE Releases Updated Instructional Guidelines for GAI
The transdisciplinary UK ADVANCE team exists to define and develop recommendations for responsible use of generative artificial intelligence (GAI) at the University of Kentucky. The team will provide ongoing guidance to the campus community to achieve the university’s mission for education, research, clinical care and service.
UK ADVANCE has released updated guidelines for the use of generative artificial intelligence in instructional, research, and clinical care contexts. The guidelines for use in instructional contexts include the following updates:
- suggested frameworks and explanations of GAI literacy for instructor and student use
- expanded discussion of affordances and constraints of GAI tools
- updated information on institutional governance, policies, and resources
- updated discussion of GAI detection tools
- expanded sections on use cases and special considerations for student and instructor use of GAI
- considerable additions of research, evidence, and scholarship published or circulated since the last version of the guidelines
