2026 Pedagogicon Conference

Pedagogicon is an annual peer-reviewed conference that brings together faculty, scholars and academic leaders designed to ignite innovation, deepen impact, and share knowledge among colleagues across Kentucky. The 2026 event will focus on the 10 Essential Skills -- how to embed them in programs, how to teach them, and how to assess student learning. With a combination of plenary sessions, faculty-led breakout sessions, and poster sessions, attendees will leave with strategies, resources, and an expanded network of colleagues working on these “essential” components to learning.

Make It Your Own: How to Incorporate Active Learning Into Preset Courses

While some instructors teach courses they develop themselves, many instructors and TAs are tasked with teaching courses with preset curricula. This Zoom session will offer some simple ways to build active learning strategies and creative instructional approaches into these courses to support student learning and engagement.

Getting Started with Google NotebookLM

This workshop will feature an introduction and overview of Google NotebookLM as a tool for learning and teaching. Explore the uses of Google NotebookLM as a study, research, and reading tool as well as an opportunity for students to examine and critique generative AI.

Leveraging Play to Build Skills

In this interactive workshop, instructors will explore the powerful role of play in building critical skills. Participants will learn to integrate playful activities to help students establish and develop competencies like collaboration and critical thinking.

Ignite Learning: Coaching Students to Build Durable Knowledge

The Ignite Learning Series dives into the science of learning to provide instructors with evidence-driven ideas for enhancing learning within their courses. In this session, we explore practical ways to coach students on how to study more effectively and efficiently while building more durable knowledge.  Please note that this 30-minute info session is followed by an optional Q&A.

Pedagogy of Play Summer Camp

Playful learning in higher education can deepen engagement, foster creativity, and support well-being—all without sacrificing academic rigor. When students interact with curricula through play, they become more motivated, curious, and willing to take intellectual risks. During this three-day "summer camp" participants will apply play-based approaches to their teaching, and design a playful assessment for their course(s).

Kentucky Network for Supporting High Impact Practices (KYnsHIP) Conference

Join us for the inaugural KYnsHIP Conference hosted by the Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment (M-G CAFE), supported by The Bill Gatton Foundation. This conference aims to foster innovation in education by exploring high-impact practices in teaching and learning and features dynamic workshops, a keynote address from Dr. Sarah L. Bunnell from Elon University, and opportunities to connect with educators from across Kentucky and beyond.
