2026 Pedagogicon Conference

Pedagogicon is an annual peer-reviewed conference that brings together faculty, scholars and academic leaders designed to ignite innovation, deepen impact, and share knowledge among colleagues across Kentucky. The 2026 event will focus on the 10 Essential Skills -- how to embed them in programs, how to teach them, and how to assess student learning. With a combination of plenary sessions, faculty-led breakout sessions, and poster sessions, attendees will leave with strategies, resources, and an expanded network of colleagues working on these “essential” components to learning.

The MG-CAFE KYnsHIP Conference continues to explore innovative, evidence-based teaching and learning practices that foster student engagement, belonging, and academic success across disciplines. Read more about the CFP and register here. Proposals are due March 27.

Teaching Students to Think Critically

This workshop will explore resources and strategies for teaching students to think critically in alignment with the Kentucky Graduate Profile essential skill, “Think critically to solve problems and create new ideas and solutions.” We will focus on case studies as one strategy to help students generate ideas, critically analyze real-world scenarios, and apply course content to consider and arrive at creative solutions.

Teaching Essential Skills: Communicating Effectively

This workshop will focus on resources and strategies for teaching students to communicate effectively in alignment with the Kentucky Graduate Profile essential skill. We will focus on ways to create opportunities for students to practice the skill in specific disciplinary contexts.

CELT Partners with Provost IMPACT Award: Cultivating Citizen Leaders Through Collaboration

Recently on April 28, in partnership with the UK Center for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching (CELT) and the Martin School, the Leadership Advisory Council of this LHC Provost IMPACT Award hosted an interactive panel of experts focusing on four models for student leadership development at UK.

Models of Student Leadership Development at UK

In partnership with CELT and the Martin School for Public Policy and Administration, the Leadership Advisory Council of the Lewis Honors College Provost IMPACT Award “Leadership Development Collaborative:  A Transdisciplinary Approach to Leadership Development” is hosting an interactive panel of experts focusing on four models for student leadership development at UK. Participants will learn about different student leadership development approaches as well as receive takeaways on how to develop student leaders and will be inspired for student leadership development.
