UK-JHFE Holocaust Education Initiative Featured on KET’s Kentucky Edition
The 2018 Ann Klein and Fred Gross Holocaust Education Act mandates instruction on the Holocaust and other genocides in Kentucky public schools. Funded by a grant from the Jewish Heritage Fund for Excellence (JHFE) and led by faculty in the Jewish Studies program in UK’s College of Arts and Sciences, the UK-JHFE Holocaust Education Initiative creates opportunities for middle and high school social studies and language arts teachers to engage in interdisciplinary content development, pedagogical training, and cross-district collaboration.
CELT is proud to be on the support team for this important project. Currently, teacher-leaders from across the state are engaging in seminars in preparation for developing their own workshops for colleagues, to be held in the spring.
The Initiative was recently featured on KET's Kentucky Edition. (NB: the link should start video playback at the 22:05 timestamp, when the segment on the Initiative begins)
