2026 Pedagogicon Conference

Pedagogicon is an annual peer-reviewed conference that brings together faculty, scholars and academic leaders designed to ignite innovation, deepen impact, and share knowledge among colleagues across Kentucky. The 2026 event will focus on the 10 Essential Skills -- how to embed them in programs, how to teach them, and how to assess student learning. With a combination of plenary sessions, faculty-led breakout sessions, and poster sessions, attendees will leave with strategies, resources, and an expanded network of colleagues working on these “essential” components to learning.

AI Takeaways: Three Years Later

This session will devote 20-30 minutes to covering high-level takeaways from CELT's three years of experience in working on generative AI in education across UK and beyond, with the remainder of the time for discussion and questions on issues that are pertinent for the spring 2026 semester.

Approaches to Generative AI in Higher Education (AI/ML Hub Symposium)

Join CELT associate director Dr. Jill Abney and members of the 2024-2025 Teaching Innovation Institute for a talk on the role and uses of generative AI in teaching and learning at the 2025 UK AI/ML Hub Symposium.

Teaching Critical Thinking with GAI Deep Research

This 30 minute session will explore the "deep research" function of Perplexity (and common in many other AI tools) as an opportunity to teach critical thinking with students.

Visual GAI for Teaching and Learning

This 30 minute session will explore examples for using Copilot and Adobe Firefly (both image generating AI tools that are available through UK) for teaching and learning.

How to Make an Agent with Copilot or ChatGPT

This 30-minute generative AI session will focus on the steps for building a custom agent for teaching and learning using both Microsoft Copilot and ChatGPT.

Approaches to GAI in the Teaching of Research Skills

This quick 30-minute session will explore some of the latest developments in generative AI related to research as well as how instructors can help teach effective research practices in a GAI world.

CELT AI Use Scale & Associate Director Jill Abney on Student Perceptions and Uses of AI in Inside Higher Ed

Today's Inside Higher Ed article unpacking some results from their student survey on GAI in education features insights from CELT's Dr. Jill Abney and the CELT GAI Use Scale, which is designed to facilitate conversation and clarity across a wide range of instructional settings.

NSF ACCESS Regional AI Workshop: Using Generative AI Effectively in Teaching and Learning

CELT is proud to partner with the UK Center for Computational Sciences to facilitate the education track for this NSF ACCESS sponsored introductory workshop. Across two half-day sessions we'll develop (1) GAI literacy with nuance and critical reflection, (2) practical skills attuned to educational use cases, (3) ethical inquiries for responsible implementation, and (4) plans for engagement with GAI across a variety of curricular and disciplinary settings.

AI Now and Later: What Leaders Need to Know

As generative AI technologies continue to develop in striking and volatile ways, leaders strive to stay current not only on AI's technical capabilities but also on the larger issues, challenges and opportunities that inform their approach to culture and strategy in their organizations. This session will address what leaders need to know about the current state and future directions of generative AI technologies as well as strategies for staying current and identifying strategic opportunities to leverage AI in productive and beneficent ways.
