Today, CELT and the College of Medicine's Office of Community Advancement held the first meeting of ASPIRE: Adopting Supportive Practices for Interconnectedness in Research Environments. This inaugural cohort of principal investigators (PIs) began a semester-long program focused on fostering effective teamwork and community in the research environment.

ASPIRE represents a unique collaboration between CELT and the College of Medicine that intentionally brings together educational and research support frameworks to foster effective teamwork and community in research environments of all kinds. In research, as in teaching, we seek intentional structures and approaches to facilitation and team management so that all students and team members are supported in their work and are brought together as one community with shared mission and goals.

Broadly, ASPIRE represents CELT's deliberate work to serve as an institution-wide leader and resource for education, learning, and development broadly construed—from the traditional classroom to a much wider range of environments that likewise manifest UK's educational mission and responsibility as the university for Kentucky. We are eager to support the ASPIRE participants' efforts to enhance their research environments and look forward to the rest of the semester's programming.
