Designing Assignments to Mitigate or Enhance Student Use of Generative AI

Whether you want students to complete assignments without the help of generative AI or you want them to engage with it proficiently to build critical literacies, there are steps for assignment design and communication that can support student learning. Join us for this virtual session that consists of two parts. The first half will feature strategies that incentivize students doing their own work without the use of GAI. Part two will consider better practices for helping students use generative AI more intentionally when that is included in the learning goals.

Proactive Design to Support Learner Variability

Designing for an average learner may not reach all students. This workshop introduces the principles of proactive design, focusing on strategies that anticipate and address the full spectrum of learner needs from the outset. Move beyond reactive fixes and discover how to build flexibility, accessibility, and engagement into your curriculum, materials, and activities. Leave with practical tools and a framework for creating more effective learning experiences for all.

This session will address what leaders need to know about the current state and future directions of generative AI technologies as well as strategies for staying current and identifying strategic opportunities to leverage AI in productive and beneficent ways.
