CELT announces 2023-24 Teaching Innovation Institute Faculty Cohort

At CELT, we have long sought to provide a venue for community-building around our shared goals as teacher-scholars at the Commonwealth’s flagship public, land-grant university. The Teaching Innovation Institute is an expression of that mission, and we eagerly anticipate the fourth cohort for the 2023-2024 academic year.

ADVANCE Committee will explore AI opportunities, challenges

The University of Kentucky has empaneled a broad-based committee to examine – and make recommendations – regarding the implications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and tools such as ChatGPT for higher education and beyond. TEK Announces 2023-24 Faculty Fellows Cohort

A critical part of TEK is the development of new transdisciplinary courses as well as the revision of current courses to integrate transdisciplinary skills and learning outcomes. To accomplish this, TEK is engaging the expertise of faculty in the inaugural cohort of the TEK Faculty Fellows program this fall semester.

CELT Forum on AI in Teaching and Learning

CELT closed out the semester with a session exploring the future of AI in higher education. The session included conversation around the lingering questions about AI, responsible use, and its impact on assignment design strategies. The forum also included a brief demo of Bing AI's chatbot powered by GPT-4 with example uses for instruction. You can view the recording here.

UK Libraries accepting faculty proposals for 2023 Alternative Textbook Grants

UK faculty who would like to replace a traditional textbook with alternative course content in the academic year 2023-24 are welcome to submit a proposal to UK Libraries’ Alternative Textbook Grant Program. The grants support adoption, adaptation or revision of existing open textbooks and creation of new course content. The deadline is March 31.

The Ongoing Conversation about ChatGPT and Higher Education

UK College and Career Studies Program Finishes 1st Semester

Led by the Human Development Institute, UK’s new College and Career Studies (CCS) program supports students with intellectual disabilities who want to continue academic, career and technical, and independent living instruction to prepare for competitive integrated employment. CELT is proud to be a supporting partner for this program.
